By some estimates , you can even expect error rates as high as one error per 4GB of RAM per day ! Many servers these days have ECC RAM, which uses extra bits to store error-correcting codes that let them correct most bit errors, but ECC RAM is still fairly rare in desktops, and unheard-of in laptops. For me, bitflips due to cosmic rays are one of those problems I always assumed...
part of Hypertext Transfer Protocol -- HTTP/1.1 RFC 2616 Fielding, et al. 10 Each Status-Code is described below, including a description of which method(s) it can follow and any metainformation required in the response. 10.1 This class of status code indicates a provisional response, consisting only of the Status-Line and optional headers, and is terminated by an empty line. There are no required headers for this class of status code. Since HTTP/1.0 did not define any 1xx status codes, servers MUST NOT send a 1xx response to an HTTP/1.0 client except under experimental conditions. A client MUST be prepared to accept one or more 1xx status responses prior to a regular response, even if the client does not expect a 100 (Continue) status message. Unexpected 1xx status responses MAY be ignored by a user agent. Proxies MUST forward 1xx respons...
Overview Wiki GitHub Get Started RocksDB is an embeddable persistent key-value store for fast storage. RocksDB can also be the foundation for a client-server database but our current focus is on embedded workloads. RocksDB builds on LevelDB to be scalable to run on servers with many CPU cores, to efficiently use fast storage, to support IO-bound, in-memory and write-once workloads, and to be flexible to allow for innovation. For more background on RocksDB, see Dhruba Borthakur's introductory talk from the Data @ Scale 2013 conference. We benchmarked LevelDB and found that it was unsuitable for our server workloads. The benchmark results look awesome at first sight, but we quickly realized that those results were for a database whose size was smaller than the size of RAM on the test machine - where the entire database could fit in the OS page cache. When we perf...

The future of Fiber Stay updated Information for cities FAQ As the web has gotten faster, it has also gotten more useful — activities like streaming movies, storing files online, video chatting and more were all enabled by broadband connections over a decade ago, and the next chapter of the web will run on even faster speeds. There continues to be huge interest from consumers and communities in faster broadband. That’s why we want to bring more people access to Google Fiber — Internet that’s up to 100 times faster than basic broadband. We’ve started early discussions with 34 cities in 9 metro areas around the United States to explore what it would take to bring a new fiber-optic network to their community. sta.li stali - static linux home dwm st stali surf tools download source about faq filesystem masterplan sandbox technologies static linux is based on a hand selected collection of the best tools for each task and each tool being statically linked (including some X clients such as st, surf, dwm, dmenu), It also targets binary size reduction through the avoidance of glibc and other bloated GNU libraries where possible (early experiments show that statically linked binaries are usually smaller than their dynamically linked glibc counterparts!!!). Note, this is pretty much contrary to what Ulrich Drepper reckons about static linking. Due to the side-benefit that statically linked binaries start faster, the distribution also targets performance gains. Sta.li is still in a design phase. You can contribute by adding ideas to the sandbox or by working on the mast...

Don't take it too seriously! OK. I promise! The Open Source Report Card Powered by Fusion Enter a GitHub username to see a dynamically generated progress report for their open source contributions Every day, many thousands of open source contributions are made on GitHub by developers around the world. This data is publicly available through the API and—even more conveniently—on the GitHub Archive . Last year, shortly after the full event stream was publicly released, the first annual GitHub data challenge produced s...
