By Chris Done For about 2 months I’ve been working on and off on an Emacs package called structured-haskell-mode. 1 A full explanation and demo of the features is available on the Github page. In summary, it is a mode that offers paredit-mode 2 abilities for Haskell code. I’ve been keeping it to myself in a private Github repo, hoping to finish fleshing out the feature set 3 and smooth over stability issues. In the end I decided I’d put it out there, because the base functionality is quite reliable and enough to get work done better. It does actually change how you work. The key features that enable new ways of working are: Cutting and pasting actually preserves the indentation of the particular syntactic node. One doesn’t have to think or care about “re-indenting” or worry about how much nesting is happening for fear of having to clean it up later. It’s so trivial now. Typin...

Previous: Mail-mode integration , Up: Commands By default, every file whose name ends with ‘ .gpg ’ will be treated as encrypted. That is, when you open such a file, the decrypted text is inserted in the buffer rather than encrypted one. Similarly, when you save the buffer to a ‘ foo.gpg ’ file, encrypted data is written. The file name pattern for encrypted files can be controlled by epa-file-name-regexp . — Variable: epa-file-name-regexp Regexp which matches filenames treated as encrypted. You can disable this behavior with M-x epa-file-disable , and then get it back with M-x epa-file-enable . — Command: epa-file-disable Disable automatic encryption/decryption of *.gpg files. — Command: epa-file-enable Enable automatic encryption/decryption of *.gpg files. By default, epa-file will try to use symmetric encryption, aka password-based encryption. If you want to use publ...
Skip to site navigation (Press enter) Announce: PicoLisp in Hardware (PilMCU) Alexander Burger Fri, 19 Sep 2014 04:48:35 -0700 X-Body-of-Message Hello List, we are proud to announce PilMCU, the Lisp Machine on a Chip! :) We, that is George Orais (who persuaded me into the project) and me. Georg built the actual machine in Verilog, and I did the changes and extensions to PicoLisp. PilMCU is an implementation of 64-bit PicoLisp directly in hardware. A truly minimalistic system. PicoLisp is both the machine language and the operating system: * Memory management is trivial, just the Lisp heap and the stack * The built-in database is extended to hold a "file system" * One SSD per database file for mass storage * "Processes" run as tasks and coroutines * Events (timing and interrupts) via a 'wait' instruction * Complex I/O protocols are delegated to peri...

In comments, I had this to say as a definition: As I use “alpha”, it simply means someone who is equipped for leadership roles by psychology and temperament. You can tell you are one if your experience of life frequently includes being sucked into leadership vacuums. It’s not about having some sort of dark desire to dominate people, though of course there’s a subset of alphas that has that. In the PUA context, “alpha” has the additional overlapping mean...

Irreal The minds had long ago come up with a proper name for it; they called it the Irreal, but they thought of it as Infinite Fun. That was what they really knew it as.
