OlegDB OlegDB Blog Downloads FAQ Docs Community Content right_side_nav Grid 2015-01-31 by Quinlan Pfiffer Comments During our most recent episode of OlegDB muckery, I glossed over how we migrated from Erlang to Go for the latest release. I also promised that I would go over in more detail why we switched and what the benefit was, even if our lines added/removed was about the same. The first thing I would like to clarify is that OlegDB is not primarily written in Go, nor was it primarily written in Erlang. OlegDB is, and will always be, a giant C hairball. I say hairball with the fondest conotations a neurotic developer can conjure up. It seems many people were confused about this concept, so I will repeat: We did not rewrite OlegDB in Go, we rewrote the communication layer from Erlang to Go. So to go over why we switched, I'll elaborate on the reasons I...

site nav Close FAQ Docs API Community Blog RethinkDB FAQ Docs API Community Blog default Slava Akhmechet October 05, 2016 Today I have sad news to share. After more than seven years of development, the company behind RethinkDB is shutting down. We worked very hard to make RethinkDB successful, but in spite of all our efforts we were ultimately unable to build a sustainable business. There is a lot of information to unpack – over the next few months, I’ll write about lessons learned so the startup community can benefit from our mistakes. I just installed RethinkDB 2.3.5 on a new laptop and took a few minutes to slow down and play with the product. I’m very proud of what we built alongside our community – RethinkDB’s technology more often feels like magic, and I hope it will continue to play an important role in advancing the state of the art in database techn...

Menu Dat Introduction How Dat Works FAQ Cookbook Browser Dat DIY Dat Ecosystem Overview SLEEP Hyperdrive Hypercore Note this is about Dat 1.0 and later. For historical info about earlier incarnations of Dat (Alpha, Beta) check out this post . When someone starts downloading data with the Dat command-line tool , here's what happens: Dat links look like this: dat.land/c3fcbcdcf03360529b47df32ccfb9bc1d7f64aaaa41cca43ca9ac7f6778db8da . The domain, dat.land, is there so if someone opens the link in a browser we can provide them with download instructions, and as an easy way for people to visually distinguish and remember Dat links. Dat itself doesn't actually use the dat.land part, it just needs the last part of the link which is a fingerprint of the data that is being shared. The first thing that happens when you go to download data using one of these links is you as...
