This guide will replace the locked bootloader on your device with a new version that can boot from a variety of locations, including USB drives. The installer will create a simple Debian Linux installation on your external USB drive. From there, you can install any of the 25,000+ packages from the Debian repository. If you decide that you don't like Debian and want to use the old Pogoplug software, simply unplug your USB drive and reboot. After you've installed Debian, please visit the forums for additional project ideas and support. If you'd prefer to run a distro other than Debian, and just want to unlock the bootloader, please see the uBoot page. This will install Debian on a USB drive connected to your Dockstar. If you wish to install Debian Lenny, please see the old installation page. If you would like to install Debian to the internal flash memory instead of a USB dri...
<![endif] Made of Bugs Blog Archives Author Mar 7 th , 2013 At Stripe , we rely heavily on ruby and EventMachine to power various internal and external services. Over the last several months, we've known that one such service suffered from a gradual memory leak, that would cause its memory usage to gradually balloon from a normal ~50MB to multiple gigabytes. It was easy enough to work around the leak by adding monitoring and restarting the process whenever memory usage grew too large, but we were determined to track down the root cause. Our exploration is a tour through a number of different debugging tools and techniques, so I thought I would share it here. One powerful technique for tracking down tough memory leaks is post-mortem analysis. If our program's normal memory footprint is 50MB, and we let it leak until it's using, say, 2GB, 1950/2000 = 97.5% of the p...
<![endif] Made of Bugs Blog Archives Author Dec 29 th , 2013 I don't do a ton of Linux kernel development these days, but I've done a fair bit in the past, and picked up a number of useful techniques for doing kernel development in a relatively painless fashion. This blog post is a writeup of the tools and techniques I use when developing for the Linux kernel. Nothing I write here is "the one way" to do it, but this is a workflow I've found to work for me, that I hope others may find useful. I'd love to hear if anyone has incremental improvements or alternate strategies. The instructions as-listed assume you're developing an x86_64 kernel, from an x86_64 host (kernel and userspace). I will attempt to mention and explain the tweaks necessary for 32-bit kernels and/or hosts where appropriate, out-of-line. Even if you're running a 32-bit userspace, if you have a 64-bi...

CentralNotice From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia Jump to: navigation , search "ZKP" redirects here. For the airport in Russia, see Zyryanka Airport . In cryptography , a zero-knowledge proof or zero-knowledge protocol is a method by which one party (the prover ) can prove to another party (the verifier ) that a given statement is true, without conveying any information apart from the fact that the statement is indeed true. If proving the statement requires knowledge of some secret information on the part of the prover, the definition implies that the verifier will not be able to prove the statement in turn to anyone else, since the verifier does not possess the secret information. Notice that the statement being proved must include the assertion that the prover has such knowledge (otherwise, the statement would not be proved in zero-knowledge, since at the end of th...

Some people think that it has needed a logo for a long time, but I've decided this need is now urgent: As of an hour ago, Tarsnap is a Silver sponsor of the FreeBSD Foundation, and this means their donors list will include a logo instead of just a name... or rather, would if Tarsnap had a logo. I'm completely useless at anything artistic, so I'm hoping a Tarsn...
